How to make Fried Tempeh with Flour Batter

Fried Tempeh with Flour Batter Recipe

Ingredients:

- 200 grams of tempeh, sliced into thin pieces

- 1 cup all-purpose flour

- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- 1/2 teaspoon salt

- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder (optional, for color and flavor)

- 1 cup water

- Oil for frying

Instructions:

1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and turmeric powder (if using).

2. Gradually add the water to the dry ingredients, whisking continuously, until you have a smooth batter. The batter should be thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.

3. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. You'll need enough oil to submerge the tempeh slices.

4. Dip each slice of tempeh into the flour batter, making sure it's fully coated.

5. Carefully place the coated tempeh slices into the hot oil. Fry them in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.

6. Fry the tempeh slices until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

7. Serve the fried tempeh with your favorite dipping sauce or enjoy it as a side dish.

8. Optional: You can also sprinkle some additional salt or spices on the fried tempeh while it's still hot to enhance the flavor.

Enjoy your homemade fried tempeh with a crispy flour batter!
